Aggressor
Oro was a top student at the Wind Fist Dojo, where she trained for years to master an esoteric martial art characterized by strikes fast enough to create thunderclaps and bursts of air. Her zeal is a two-edged sword, however, manifesting as both intense discipline and a confrontational streak. During her time there she exacerbated a longstanding conflict between the Wind Fist and their sister dojo, the Mountain Art. A rash dojo storming that she orchestrated prompted an ambush from the Mountain Art, resulting in dishonor to her mentors, brutal injury to her fellow students, and expulsion for Oro herself. She sees her selection by the Vitalos as a chance for both redemption and revenge, as the edge she needs to return to her dojo and put Wind Fist back on top.
"You train with dummies. I train with hurricanes. You don't win this."
Stalwart
The Soul Engine was meant to be a power source - no more, no less. It was designed to harvest the residual life force of the departed. But the souls in question were still very much sentient and not content to be reduced to fuel. Instead of becoming consumed by it, they commandeered the Soul Engine, creating an entire city of the dead within its chassis. They now act as a collective, with Domm, their leader, acting as the main controller of the engine and executor of the peoples' will. While better than oblivion, a warrior's suit of armor is no place for housing civilians; with the Vitalos, Domm can create a true haven for the souls under his charge. While Domm is no warmonger, he is trained in the arts of combat, and the people have authorized him to resort to violence on their behalf.
"What can you know of purpose, of sacrifice? You are one, who has lived one lifetime. We live endless."
Opportunist
D'iel is wanted on every continent for crimes including fraud, smuggling, high-seas robbery, and general lawlessness - an ever-expanding list. He eludes the law by retreating into the Twelfth Sea, a vast oceanic trench that houses unimaginable beasts. What allows him to survive where others are never heard from again is his ability to commune with animals. He can tame even the most horrific monsters, if only temporarily, and that makes him more dangerous than any pirate who ever lived. His closest ally and only trusted friend is a crocodilian named Croc, naturally, who has as few redeeming qualities as D'iel himself. Whatever his reasons are for seeking the Vitalos, you can be sure it's motivated by his moral compass which points steadfastly towards one supreme ideal: greed.
Greedy? Yes. Opportunistic? Yes. Alive and well? Very yes.
Adept
Evran was once a holy knight of De Luce, the city of light. His loyalty to his nation is boundless and his devotion; unending. In ancient times, before De Luce ascended into the stars, Evran was tasked with tracking down mystical artifacts that could protect the holy city.
He wandered the land on his own for many years. He heard tales of sailors falling to deep sea horrors, the dead returning from the grave, and even the animation of stone statues. All of these stories paled in comparison to the majesty of the fated Vitalos, a mystical orb of flame that can grant wishes.
Little is known about what happened to Evran after he actually found Vitalos. He now acts as an extension of the Vitalos' will, recruiting new candidates to hold the grand power of the Vitalos.
Legend speaks of one who was truly just, and that is the First Hero.
